Vaccinations commence at City Hall

More signs of hope are on the horizon as Cork’s newest vaccination centre, located in City Hall, got up and running last week.
Work began on transforming City Hall into a vaccine hub in February, and the centre became fully operational on Friday 4 April, initially just for frontline healthcare workers.
It is estimated that between 750–800 frontline healthcare workers were vaccinated in 10 operational booths, over the 12 hours the centre was open on its first day.
The City Hall Vaccination Centre was established as a joint project between the South/South West Hospital Group and Cork Kerry Community Healthcare. With the opening of this centre, there is now a total of five vaccination centres in county Cork.
When opened to the wider public, it is expected that the centre’s vaccinating capacity will expand further, with up to 30 booths in operation. The centre will then be used to vaccinate people in line with the Government’s Covid-19 Vaccination Allocation Strategy.
The South/South West Hospital Group and Cork Kerry Community Healthcare expressed their appreciation to Cork City Council for their ongoing support in relation to the establishment of the Cork City Hall Vaccination Centre.
