Those pain in the bum moments!

Recent research by Irish baby wipe brand WaterWipes has revealed a staggering 95 per cent of parents rate nappy rash as high on their list of concerns.
The research follows on from an independent clinical study on new parenting by the University of Salford, which revealed that WaterWipes can help nappy rash, the baby brand said.
Aside from constant worry, brain fog and feeling inadequate, not being prepared for the reality of nappy rash was cited as being one of the surprising and irritating aspects of parenting, the survey revealed.
It also showed that in terms of parental angst about baby ailments, nappy rash ranks just below teething as parents worry their baby is in pain, with many feeling like a bad parent as a result.
WaterWipes spokesperson and mum Rosanna Davison said she’s not surprised, as many aspects of parenting are daunting.
She said: “Nappy rash can be really distressing for baby as well as parents. In our house WaterWipes are always close to hand!”
She added: “It’s important to use baby products that I trust and know are gentle for the children’s delicate skin.”
WaterWipes contain 99.9 per cent purified water and a drop of fruit extract. The wipes are now also biodegradable.
The study of 500 parents of babies aged from birth to two, provided further revelations.
The survey revealed that most parents are in constant fear of getting it wrong and that ‘mum brain’ is real.
The WaterWipes research has found that it’s a real challenge for some to find time for a shower with many going without.
Intimate time with a partner definitely suffer too, the survey showed.
Other frustrations include being woken in the middle of the night, explosive ‘poo-nami’ occurrences when out and about and babies throwing up just after an outfit change.
Competitive or interfering parents were the cause of other ‘pain in the bum’ moments.
Annoying and unrealistic ‘perfect baby’ social media posts and photos really seem to irk folks too.
In commenting on the study GP and mum, Dr Laura Lenihan said: “It is important for parents not to get upset or to feel guilty - that’s quite challenging when trying to juggle all aspects of family life.”
She added: “The signs of nappy rash include red or sore skin, spots, blisters, or pimples can appear around the area, and the skin can be hot to the touch.
“Always contact your GP or public health nurse if you have any concerns,” she concluded.
WaterWipes are available in all major retailers.
