Start working now on healthy habits for 2022
By Cian Minihane
December can be a chaotic month; winding down from school and work whilst frantically organising food and presents and looking forward to some free time over Christmas.
It is a slightly bonkers month, and sometimes health and wellbeing get left by the wayside in the mad rush of the silly season.
What can you do right now to aid your future self in 2022? You can lay the foundations of healthy habits now that can progress in January, so you won’t be starting from a dead stop.
Something very effective, easy and can be done anywhere is creating the habit of nailing down a walk every single day in December.
For me this year, this was a habit I wanted to build into my daily routine. Getting out into the fresh air and away from work and life stresses allows me to get out into the sunshine (okay maybe not actual sunshine – just air) at least once a day.
Why is this habit so important for me and yourself?
Not because I need the exercise or steps necessarily, but because it’s doing something for me that allows me to come back to work more productive, in a better mood, less stressed and gives me some thinking time.
For me, this walk is less about losing weight or increasing time. I find exercise and an accompanying healthy lifestyle can change much more than surface appearance.
It begins to set your body and mind up for success, warming up muscles and mind for a harder push in January that will feel like a natural progression rather than a shock or hardship.
Exercise and a healthy lifestyle give you so much more then just a surface level change. By implementing this in December, you’re laying the perfect groundwork for take-off in 2022!
So, team I challenge you right now to not wait till January to start changing your lifestyle and habits. Do not leave the issues get worse before implementing change. By doing this in December it will ultimately better you in 2022.
Then when 2022 does come, let’s build on that and we can totally dominate 2022!
