Gardaí investigating Ballincollig attack

Last night a man and a woman were attacked at a house in Ballincollig by a group of men.

The man in his 60s and woman in her 30s suffered serious injuries at the incident this morning just before 1am and were taken to CUH by ambulance.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses following the assault at a house in Innishmore Square in Ballincollig.

Shortly before 1am, gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene. The man and woman suffered injuries that a garda spokesperson described as “serious but not life threatening”. A machete may have been involved in the attack.

The scene was preserved overnight and is currently being examined by garda scenes of crime officers.

An investigation into all of the circumstances of this incident is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and in particular to those who were in the Innishmore Square area shorty before 1am this morning to come forward.
