Helping others, that’s the point

The fundraising team at Mahon Point are busy bees with a range of events planned to help to raise money for a worthy cause on Leeside.

The fundraising committee are currently raising funds for Cork Simon, which was voted Mahon Point’s preferred charity by staff members from retail stores and management team.

Every year Cork Simon supports more than 1,000 men and women at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

A spokesperson for Mahon Point said: “We will be donating 100% of funds raised to this most worthy cause at a time of the year when they will desperately need it.”

Speaking about what events are planned, the spokesperson said: “On Sunday 2 October, Sleep Out in aid of Cork Simon will take place in our covered car park and already many staff members have signed up to take part which is fantastic. We are getting the flasks of tea ready and pulling out the thermals as members of our staff prepare give up their bed for one night to support those facing homelessness and raise vital funds.”

Meanwhile the fundraising committee also said “a big well done” to Michael, Helen and the team in Specsavers for their recent sponsored walk in aid of Cork Simon when they raised €325.

“Last weekend we commenced our mall collections which has already proved to be very successful. Over €550 were collected from the public. We are planning more collections this weekend. Please give generously!” added the spokesperson.
