A screening with meaning
An award-winning documentary which attempts to reframe how ADHD is regarded by the world will be shown in Cork next week.
Hosted by the Cork and Kerry branch of ADHD Ireland, the special screening of ‘The Disruptors’ will take place on 24 November at The Gate Cinema.
Tickets will cost €5 and the screening will be followed by a short Q&A with a panel from ADHD Ireland.
Touted as the cultural phenomenon, the movie is the brainchild of producer Nancy Armstrong who was inspired to create the film based on her own experiences of raising children with ADHD.
Speaking about her film, Armstrong said it was something she desperately needed to make as a mother of 3 children with an ADHD diagnosis.
The film features contributions from musicians like will.i.am, sports people like Michael Phelps, and a range of other well-known celebrities, entrepreneurs and academics.
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental difference that affects roughly 5% of the population. Adults and children with ADHD typically struggle with organisation, staying focused and impulse control.
This can lead to overwhelming feelings of frustration and anxiety as the person with ADHD tries to navigate a world that is primarily designed for neurotypical people.
