Party season is here!
Party season is well and truly upon us and last week I went to no fewer than 3 Christmas parties.
Yes, I know this is festive madness, but I can never say no to a good invite. With all these social gatherings comes the question of what to wear and has me standing in the wardrobe staring into space for quite some time hoping for inspiration.
Of course, there’s always the option of sequins but what if you’re not a sequin person? If I want to make an impact without relying on some bling, then I like to make sure I’m wearing a statement print.
The Maxima jacket from Emerald and Wax Designs is absolutely perfect for this and really brings the wow factor. Virtue draws on her memories of her childhood in Ghana as well as a love for Japanese design and architecture and this is so clear to see in her stunning creations.
Now residing along the Wild Atlantic Way, Virtue creates bespoke, wearable art for her clients. Her newest design, the Blissful jacket is made for you to wear with joy and with the intention to make the wearer not only to feel astoundingly beautiful but also to look magnificent.
These pieces will make you feel confident in what you are wearing. The Blissful jacket is a vintage inspired piece, designed with a swing dipped back, high collar, straight sleeves and wide side pockets.
This is also Virtue’s favourite meba embroidered fabric selection for this collection and it’s easy to see why as the fabric is so vibrant and the perfect print to brighten up your wardrobe all year round.
Meba is a cotton base, heavy fabric with machine embroidered patterns and is laced with silver or gold thread running through it for a bit of subtle glitz. These intricate and stunning fabrics are well known in the Ghanaian community and is the fabric to wear when wanting to look stylish at fun events.
These pieces look perfect styled so many ways. Keep it super simple and wear over jeans or leather wide leg trousers and pop a knit roll neck and boots with it for a fabulous day time look. For night swap with heels and a silky cami underneath and wear the jacket belted.
I also would style the jacket over a brightly coloured jumpsuit to really have a statement look and with so many colours in the jacket the options are endless. I recently spotted a green plisse fabric, wide leg jumpsuit in Next on Opera Lane and it would be the perfect base for the jacket. Just add a statement earring and some gold platforms and you have a gorgeous yet easy to wear party look.
You could also really go all out and do some print clashing with a patterned dress underneath. Look for a print with similar shades and then pull out one of the colours present in both pieces and wear an earring and shoe in this block colour. You’ll be sure to wow and not a sequin in sight.
