BrewDog Cork has closed after less than a year of business.

BrewDog pulls last pint on Leeside

One of Cork city’s newest pubs has closed its doors just 9 months after its high profile opening.

Management at BrewDog Cork put the pub’s sudden closure down to the “deterioration of economic conditions in the hospitality industry and ever increasing operational costs”.

The pub, which employed approximately 50 people, opened in July 2022, and was run by Westside Leisure Ltd, who also manage Barbarossa, An Bróg, Voodoo, Barbarella, Alibi, and Popscene in Cork city centre.

A spokesperson for Westside Leisure Ltd said it was with “great regret and genuine sadness” that the group was forced to close to bar, which was located on the site of the former Grand Central Social on Courthouse Street.

“We wish to thank all our customers for your fantastic support over the last year and especially our staff for all their efforts during this time,” a statement from the group read.

In a separate statement, a spokesperson for the UK-based BrewDog said: “Unfortunately, our partner in Cork has taken the decision to close the Cork bar. We hope to bring BrewDog back to Cork as soon as we can.”

BrewDog Cork was located on the site of the former Grand Central Social on Courthouse Street, just off Washington Street, which had been closed for a number of years.
