A brush with history
An Irish paint company has joined forces with one of the county’s finest decorative artists to create a bespoke collection of historical colours for Irish homes.
The exciting collaboration brings together the expertise of Nathaniel Clements, renowned for his work in decorative paint finishes and gilding for over 25 years, and Irish company Kraftsmann Paint under the brand name Clements & Moore.
Drawing upon a deep understanding of paint and its diverse possibilities, the new brand has meticulously chosen colours for their suitability in period homes and properties dating back to the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries in Ireland.
Each historical colour in the collection has been recreated using ultra-premium, ultra-low VOC acrylic paint.
The inspiration for the paints stems from iconic historical Irish houses such as Birr Castle, Lissadell House, Castletown, and Lough Rynn, ensuring a harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary appeal.
Joe Meaney, founder of Kraftsmann, said: “We are thrilled to link up with Nathaniel Clements who is such a respected figure in the Irish restoration and interior design circles. It has been an amazing experience seeing him undertake extensive analysis and colour matching to preserve and revive the use of these historical paints. The collection showcases tried-and-tested colours that have stood the test of time and have been loved for centuries in Ireland.”
Nathaniel Clements' studio has an illustrious history, having undertaken prestigious projects throughout Europe in Germany, France, Italy, the UK, Portugal, Spain, and Ireland.
With a specialisation in recreating historical paint schemes and developing contemporary finishes, the studio has adorned public buildings and private residences alike.
The new line of paints, with their impeccable quality and stunning aesthetic, are set to captivate homeowners, interior designers, and restoration enthusiasts alike.
