Munster Technological University's Cork School of Music (CSM) have appointed Cian Ó Dúill as the new Head of the Department of Orchestral Studies.

He brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments as a prominent viola player and musician, and his exceptional expertise will undoubtedly enrich the department and the entire CSM community.

The appointment of Cian Ó Dúill as Head of the Department of Orchestral Studies marks an exciting new chapter for MTU CSM, promising further growth within the school's vibrant musical community, and enhancing artistic development in Cork city and the wider southwest region.”

Cian Ó Dúill is an accomplished viola player, renowned for his exceptional talent and versatility in the world of classical music. As a member of the Solas String Quartet, he has captivated audiences with his performances, and his collaborations with esteemed ensembles such as the Vanbrugh, Carducci, and Calino String Quartets have garnered widespread acclaim. Cian's artistry extends to chamber music recitals, where he has shared the stage with esteemed musicians like Jörg Widmann, Anthony Marwood, Finghin Collins, and many others.

Cian's passion for music and dedication to his craft has led to concerto appearances in various countries, showcasing his mastery in interpreting works by Bach, Telemann, Mozart, Bruch, and Hindemith. Notably, Cian's musical journey includes membership in prestigious orchestras like the Irish Chamber Orchestra and the London Mozart Players, collaborating with esteemed ensembles like the London Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

Cian's connection to MTU Cork School of Music is longstanding, having served as an assistant lecturer. Through his contributions as an educator, he has nurtured the next generation of musicians, instilling in them the same passion and dedication that drives his own musical pursuits.
