The sweet and sour chicken was a standout.

Fast fresh and delicious food at Noodlee

Mary Jane O’Regan

Some days you don’t feel like putting in the effort of cooking and it is likely that with the back to school blues, you might want to cheer the family up with something quick and delicious.

I recently indulged in some super fresh dishes from Cork’s hottest noodle joint Noodlee on the Western Road in Cork city. The premises is spotless and was the perfect place to pop into after a stroll around Fitzgerald's Park.

My guest was a non-meat eater but a lover of fish and I am a die-hard meat eater so it can be hard to find somewhere tasty for us both. The menu is extensive with everything from the famous Cork 3 in 1 ( chips, rice and curry) to tempura prawns and vegan chow mein.

The stand-out for me was the sweet and sour chicken (you can have boiled or fried rice with this) and the spring rolls.

The noodles are prepared fresh on the premises and everything is cooked to order. The beef dishes are succulent and juicy.

There is an abundance of appetisers and side orders too so it might just be the perfect order for your next get together at home. They also have a children's menu which does not compromise on quality. We ate in but obviously ordered way too much and had some leftovers which we just packed in the bag and reheated the next day.

All of the dishes are served in thermal take away containers. They are available for delivery and take away. The staff are so accommodating and friendly.

They have an app you can download and they have locations in Fermoy, Mahon and Carrigaline as well as the one near UCC.
