Musical feast for East Cork this Christmas
From trad to grunge to classic pop, Sea Church Ballycotton is the place to be this Christmas for all your musical needs.
Highlights in December include folk artist Lisa Canny, an ABBA tribute act, the legendary Jack L, and Jerry Fish, who will bring his Electric Sideshow to the stunning East Cork venue for a New Year’s Eve extravaganza.
On 16 December, Mayo native Lisa Canny will take to the stage at Sea Church. An All-Ireland champion banjo and harp player, Canny is best known for her unique covers and powerful live performances.
The following week The Super Troupers make their return to Ballycotton on 21 December with the Cork act expected to bring a real Christmas party vibe covering all the ABBA classics.
The one and only Jack Lukeman, aka Jack L, will bring his seasonal performance ‘Northern Lights – Songs of the Winter Solstice’, over two nights on 22 and 23 December.
26 December is one for the lovers of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, and more as The Year Grunge Broke celebrates all things grunge, paying tribute to one of the most influential musical movements on the 20th century.
The Christmas season at Sea Church will be rounded off with a major New Year’s Eve party, as Jerry Fish & The Electric Sideshow will transform the venue into a circus wonderland. The night kicks off at 9pm when guests will be treated to a complimentary glass of bubbly, followed by a performance by local folk duo Dark & Lively. Jerry Fish will then ring in 2024 with a spectacle that sees him as carnival creator and circus ringmaster while performing all of his back catalogue of greatest hits.
Commenting on the December programme, Sea Church General Manager, John Kidney said the offering is eclectic and bound to draw crowds.
“Our Christmas schedule is jam-packed with fantastic music,” said John. “We’re especially proud of our line-up of Irish acts, from the supremely talented Lisa Canny to the legendary Jack L.
“We also have some great tribute acts on 8 and 9 December; Karma Police - a Tribute to Radiohead, and a Garth Brooks tribute act. New Year’s Eve with Jerry Fish & The Electric Sideshow promises to be really special and a brilliant way to ring in the new year in Ballycotton.”
