You couldn’t make it up …but they have to!

Are you tired of ‘Red Riding Hood’, sick to death of ‘Snow White’, and all 'Aladdin’ed out? Then look no further than the always outrageous 'Improv Panto' returning to Leeside this month.

The popular show makes a return to Cork Opera House this December, celebrating over a decade of spontaneous chaos and laughter on Leeside. The show will run for seven nights and is expected to be a sell-out success as usual, so improv lovers are encouraged to book ASAP!

The one-of-a-kind show offers a chance for the grown-ups to escape reality and embrace the hilarity of improv theatre, where anything can and will happen. Cork’s most hilarious and talented improvisers will present a different, fully improvised, and unscripted panto each night, based on the audience’s live votes.

The audience gets to choose what panto they see, and who plays what character. They can then sit back and relax as the poor actors attempt to weave their way through classic fairy tales without so much as a trail of breadcrumbs to guide them.

With live music thrown into the mix, not only will the actors have to come up with the script, but they will also have to improvise up lyrics and songs. What will they be singing about? Not even the actors know…yet.

This year’s cast brings together well-known actors and comedians. Dominic MacHale, star of the hit movie and TV series, ‘The Young Offenders’ will join podcaster, comedian, and radio presenter Laura O'Mahony, the witty and ever bold improviser Laura Harte, and panto stalwart and hilarious Declan Wolfe. This year the Improv Panto team will be joined by actor and Cork’s comedic dark horse John McCarthy. The live music will be provided by Dylan Howe on keys, vocals, sax and more.

'The Improvised Panto' has become an annual tradition with partygoers looking for a special night of fun with a twist and is always a high hit for work parties. So, don’t miss a whole new world of panto where anything is possible. Including spontaneous bouts of singing, dancing, laughing, crying and the telling of outrageous lies. No rules, no writing, just rollicking bouts of laughter and rib-tickling ridiculousness.

'The Improv Panto' kicks off at Cork Opera House this Friday and Saturday, with a further two showings on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 December, and for a run of three nights from 21-23 December. Tickets are on sale for €22.50 from corkoperahouse.ie or box office. Shows begin at 10.30pm and are not suitable for children.
