New sculpture course launched
Stephen O’Leary
A partnership between Fighting Blindness, a charity supporting people with sight loss, and Cork College of Further Education and Training (FET) has created a course in sculpture specifically designed for those with visual impairments. Participants will share in a multi-sensory, inclusive experience in which they can explore their creativity and craft sculptures through the use of touch, smell, and sound, engaging with various materials, shapes, and textures.
The sculpture programme, provided free of charge, will take place on the Douglas Street Campus of Cork College of FET (formerly St John’s College). Commencing on 25 January, it will run each Thursday from 4pm to 6pm for eight weeks.
The collaboration between Fighting Blindness and Cork College of FET is an important landmark for the county of Cork in making the world of art more inclusive for all. Cork-based artist and advocate of accessibility in art, Krzysztof Rosa, will facilitate the course. Krzysztof is committed to creating an inclusive environment for participants to explore their artistic expression, develop their skills, and deepen their connection to fine art.
