Chamber in green project
A new service has been launched on Leeside which advises businesses on how to be more energy efficient and invest in renewable energy sources.
This free service, from Cork Chamber is open to members and non-members nationwide, is being delivered through a wider European Commission funded project called REEValue and focuses on the food, beverage and transport industries.
Conor Healy, CEO of Cork Chamber said: “The business community has a lot to offer in terms of decarbonisation and many organisations are already on their journeys to adapting their energy plans. Our participation in the REEValue project is one of the many ways that Cork Chamber has worked to advance the broader sustainability agenda, while also offering practical help as businesses seek to embrace change for the better.”
Cork Chamber said Irish businesses contribute approximately 13% of the nation's greenhouse gas emissions, and they now have the potential to reduce their energy bills by 10% by adopting energy efficiency measures or investing in renewable energy sources.
REEValue is, Cork Chamber said, dedicated to fostering collaborations among value chains in specific classifications of economic activities within the food, beverage, and transport sectors, aiming to identify and implement energy efficiency and renewable energy sources opportunities.
Dr Alicia Mateos-Cárdenas, REEValue Project Coordinator at Cork Chamber said: “This new free service will help businesses identify relevant funding opportunities and provide energy recommendations while also supporting them through workshops and one-to-one advisory services.
“Our aim is to simplify the process for businesses, while we manage the gathering of cutting-edge technical information on energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and value chain collaboration models. There is a huge opportunity to make savings, future-proof their businesses and meet a growing customer expectation for more climate-aware business models.”
