Hair's to a great da
By Amy Shanahan
From length to colour to style, there is so much to think about when it comes to your hair and this is especially true on your wedding day.
You should definitely start thinking about your wedding hair at least six months to a year before your big day. Having worked in the industry for many years, here are just some of my top tips to get your hair ready for your special day:
Your hair should be as healthy as possible when you’re tying the knot. It’s a good idea to get those hair vitamins into your routine and start regular treatments, especially if there is a lot of colour work happening. It’s important that you have the right hair colour for your skin tone too.
Remember if you are thinking of a colour correction this could take up to a year to achieve. Sometimes a few extra subtle tones can make a curl or an upstyle pop, and show up better in photographs.
What about hair extensions if you need thickness or length?
If you are thinking of semi permanent extensions maybe trial them once before your wedding and that way you will have them for your hen party too - it's a win win!
Clip ins are also a great option if you don't want to commit and they can add thickness or bulk to an upstyle or thickness and length to a downstyle.
Book a hair trial with your stylist. Not only does practice make perfect but it means brides and stylists can build up a good rapport. We can choose a style that will suit the neckline of your dress and that is the most flattering for you. After all this is the most photographed day of your life .
On your trial, have inspiration photos of what you are thinking, make sure to bring your veil, extensions and any hair accessories you are thinking about.
Most importantly, don't be afraid to communicate! If you are unsure or uneasy about anything say it, trust your stylist.
Don't get caught up in the organising of who goes first on the day, leave that up to us and your makeup artist - this is what we do and we've got it under control so relax and enjoy your wedding morning.
