CIFF waits for Godet
There was big news for the Cork International Film Festival recently with the appointment of a new director of programming.
Taking on the role will be veteran programmer, Aurélie Godet, who brings with her a wealth of film and programming experience.
Ms Godet has an impressive track record across international film festivals, including most recently the Berlinale and Locarno Film Festival.
Previously, she launched the first international film festival in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and was deputy director of Unifrance’s New York office.
Ms Godet is also a member of the director’s advisory committee at Arte France Cinema and co-founded The Red Balloon Alliance, a collective of film professionals aiming for a better work-life balance.
Commenting on her new role, Ms Godet said: “Both anchored in the cultural city of Cork and facing the world, CIFF is proactive in creating spaces where vocations are born and where they are nurtured. A place where, if you love film, we make sure that you can share your passion.
“I wanted to be part of it. I am beyond thrilled to join this dynamic team,” she added.
As CIFF Director of Programming, Ms Godet will help shape the future of Ireland’s premiere film festival which will celebrate its 70th year in 2025.
She will commence her new role with the Cork institution this month.
