Bus it to Cork Summer Show

Heading to the Cork Summer Show this weekend? Why not take the easy road and choose comfort by taking the bus?

Not only is it more sustainable, but it’s the most relaxing and cost-effective way to get to and from this year’s amazing show with TFI Leap Card fares starting from as little as 65 cents for children and young adults.

Thanks to Bus Éireann, a special extension of the Cork city 208 route will bring you to a dedicated bus stop located right at the entrance to the Cork Summer Show at the Showgrounds in Curraheen. The extended service runs from 7am until 8.30pm on both Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June, ensuring you have plenty of time to enjoy the show.

The 208 route serves a wide area of Cork city, beginning at Ashmount, passing through Mayfield, Ballyhooley Road, Summer Hill, MacCurtain Street, St Patrick’s Street, UCC, Wilton, and Bishopstown, and for the weekend of 15-16 June will be terminating at the Cork Summer Show.

Connections to city, county, and other long-distance bus, as well as Iarnród Éireann rail services, are all within a short walk in the city centre allowing for multi-modal travel.

Tickets can be purchased on board, but for the best value visitors are encouraged to use a TFI Leap Card which offers savings of up to 30% for adults and 50% for young adults and students.

The TFI Leap Card is accepted on all Bus Éireann services with fares starting from as little as 65 cents for children and young adults on routes 201 through 225 in Cork Red Zone. The same fares extend to route 226 when travelling between Cork and Cork Airport only.

“Bus Éireann, Ireland’s national bus company is delighted to support the Cork Summer Show 2024,” said Aled Williams, Regional Manager South, Bus Éireann. “Community is core to Bus Éireann’s purpose to sustainably connect people and communities helping to make life better.

“We would encourage those attending the Cork Summer Show to travel on Bus Éireann route 208, operating regularly from the city centre directly to the entrance of the Cork Showgrounds,” he added.

Cork Summer Show is the signature of summer for tens of thousands of people from Cork and around Munster who visit and take part in this remarkable gathering.

With a history spanning more than two centuries, it continues to ignite imaginations and is gearing up for its biggest and best show yet!

There will be 20 themed zones and acres of traditional agricultural competitions and equestrian events, stalls, displays, and marquees to explore, all set in the lush surrounds of the Cork Showgrounds at Curraheen.

There will also be music aplenty. Visitors can enjoy the sounds of the summer at the festival’s mainstage, with its famous straw bale seating, where they can check out great acts including Jerry Fish, James Keegan, Fiona Kennedy, Gina and the Champions, the Céilí Allstars, DJ Jim X Comet, as well as some on-stage entertainment just for kids.

There will also be over a hundred picnic tables, where you can relax with great food from the food village or even bring your own packed lunch.

Food lovers can also brush up their culinary skills by watching live demonstrations by top chefs or take part in one of many talks delivered by food experts.

This year’s show will also feature numerous fascinating educational exhibits, talks and lectures, as well as an opportunity to see all the latest agri-tech, with farm and garden machinery and motors to browse. You can also take a trip down memory lane and check out the classics in the vintage motors and machinery zone.
