Fundraiser for Micheál's family

A fundraiser has been set up for the family of Micheál Sheridan who was laid to rest last weekend.

Micheál, who was well known in many circles on Leeside, died after a short battle with cancer last week.

Micheál was the CEO of Mercy University Hospital Foundation and was an integral part of the 96FM Radiothon 2024 less than a month ago, in which €409,178 was raised for cancer charities in Cork.

This week, The Sheridan Family Education Fund was launched online on GoFundMe to help Micheál’s family.

The GoFundMe page said: “Micheál Sheridan, the late CEO of Mercy University Hospital Foundation, fought a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

“His untimely departure has left an enormous void in the Irish charity community.

“Micheál's life was a testament to selfless service, as he dedicated himself to raising funds for those in need. His contributions to the ISPCC, Special Olympics Ireland, Critical, and Mercy University Hospital Foundation have touched the lives of countless individuals, providing support during their darkest hours and establishing charitable initiatives that will endure for years to come.”

The GoFundMe page has been created to show his family support during this time.

“Micheál worked tirelessly all his life to help people in some of the most difficult times in their lives. We want to come together to support his family at this time. Nothing was more important to Micheál than his family—his wife Claire and their four sons Éanna, Rían, Finn and Caelán,” said the page.

This GoFundMe page has been set up to support his sons' education in the coming years.

Organiser of the fundraiser said: “As a Dad myself, I know nothing is more important than knowing that your family has all they need. I have created this page in memory of Micheál in tribute to all he did for charities throughout Ireland.”
