'I am absolutely delighted'

The lucky winner of a new house in Cork worth €350,000 has said the win “couldn’t have come at a better time”.

Dawid Mozolewski from Kinsale was announced as the winner of the Enable Ireland’s Win A House draw, becoming the proud owner a newly built three-bed house in Carrigaline. He also won €10,000 worth of vouchers to kit out the house.

The campaign, which launched in December 2023, exceeded its goal of raising enough funds to complete the funding of Enable Ireland Cork Children’s Centre in Curraheen.

Mr Mozolewski’s winning ticket, number 885, was pulled from the raffle drum by Enable Ireland’s Director of HR and Corporate Affairs, Ms Theresa Compagno at the event which was broadcast live on Facebook.

Speaking after he heard the news, Dawid said: “I am absolutely delighted. I was actually in the market for my first ever house, so this couldn’t come at a better time.” Mr Mozolewski thanked Enable Ireland and said he was delighted to be able to contribute to the funding of the children’s centre.

“I can’t wait to see the house in person,” he added.

An engineer with Dell, Mr Mozolewski moved to Ireland with his parents and siblings when he was 16 years old and says the whole family is delighted with the win. The Enable Ireland’s Win A House campaign was supported by thousands of people from across Cork and beyond. Supporters included high-profile Cork personalities such as Irish rugby legend Billy Holland and Donal Lenihan.

The proceeds from the raffle will go towards the new Children’s Service Centre in Curraheen and will benefit children with disabilities for generations to come. Over 1,800 children and their families attend the new Lavanagh Centre in Curraheen, where three children’s network disability teams provide services including physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, speech and language, social work, psychology, and occupational therapy. Commenting on the Draw, Enable Ireland CEO John O’Sullivan said: “On behalf of Enable Ireland Disability Services, a sincere thank you to the public for their support with this campaign. Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket for this draw, your support enables us to continue to provide our vital therapy and rehabilitative services for generations to come.” Fundraising committee leader Anne Hegarty added: “Over 1,800 children with a very wide range of complex disabilities will now have the benefit of this beautiful facility thanks to the generosity of the people of Cork.”
