The who's Hugh of interiors!

“Hugh is the perfect fit to be our ambassador, he personifies what Sofa Workshop is for the company; characterful, unique and timeless, with integrity and fun.”

Those were the words of Emma Murphy, Creative Manager at EZ Living Interiors, speaking at the launch of the Sofa Workshop x Hugh Wallace collection.

During the launch, Hugh Wallace’s architect’s eye made keen observations about ample seat length in the Mathilda chair and the seat width in the Momo, which he maintains not all chairs have. He happened to be seated on the collection’s Scott sofa at the time, upholstered in rich green velvet which he suggested as an option for homeowners if they’re not feeling brave about colour and to which they can easily add accessories.

Describing his personal interiors style as sentimental design, he stressed the need to invest in core pieces like sofas but adding in vintage pieces to create a classic and timeless mix.

Emma added: “While design is the key focus, we are very proud to stand over the Sofa Workshop quality.

“We believe quality starts with the structure which is why the makers of the range work with a cabinet- making specialist to perfect our frames, joinery and wood details.

“From the hand-crafted Italian leather, to our soft, matte pile cotton velvets, the materials that go into each piece are carefully selected to create a sofa that is timelessly beautiful.”

Also at the launch, Emma rounded off a discussion referencing how almost 40 years ago EZ Living Interiors co-founder Caroline White was inspired to open a little shop on Cork’s Barrack Street to bring beautiful pieces to the people of Cork.

“Four decades later access to beautiful, design-led pieces for Irish homes has evolved across the island of Ireland,” she said.
