Finding some gems this summer
I’ve had a lot on this year and so have been predominantly staycationing in Ireland.
I mean yes, I am now questioning my decision as I’ve forgotten what the sun looks like but on another note, I've found some real gems in the local area.
Being a West Cork girlie, it can be hard to branch out to other areas but recently I’ve been finding myself in East Cork and I’m liking what I see.
One reason I’ve been heading down this direction is to drop into Katie in Peach Vintage Clothing.
She recently opened a cool and quirky new boutique in Midleton and I have been reselling my clothes with her for the longest time.
As you know, I am a big fan of doing regular wardrobe clear outs and while I had always thought of selling on some pieces, I just don’t have the time for Depop or other reselling sites, so it’s a dream to be able to send my preloved and vintage pieces to Peach Vintage and Katie takes care of the rest.
I like to save up the money I get back and then reinvest in wardrobe staples or on occasion buy a jazzy statement piece for my wardrobe.
It takes away some of the shopping guilt and I love that someone else can wear my pieces that I’ve enjoyed wearing but maybe don’t get the wear out of anymore.
I don’t really have anything on my shopping list at the moment and so I’ll just keep on saving till I see something I need or simply must have.
On one such trip this summer I popped into one store which was full or Irish brands, also in East Cork.
I saw so many brands there that I never realised were Irish including of course some stunning jewellery and I discovered my new favourite candle, So Relaxed from Eau Lovely.
This candle’s lavender scent is instantly relaxing and there were actual pieces of Amethyst in the candle.
Another good thing about staycationing is not having to worry about how much luggage you can fit in a carry-on bag.
There’s of course the option of lots of day trips or if you do go for a few nights away you can just absolutely pack the car up and with the weather so changeable you could be packing for four seasons in one trip.
Luckily, it’s the hidden culinary gems in Ireland that keep us staycationing and not the weather.
