Fitzgerald’s Park bounces with joy

The joy certainly returned to Fitzgerald’s Park last Sunday when thousands returned for Joy in the Park’s third edition.

Even Cork’s loss in the All-Ireland Hurling Final couldn’t dampen the occasion!

Joy in the Park’s unique programme featured music, spoken word, family entertainment, circus, storytelling, arts & crafts, wellness activities, workshops and a mental health support hub.

Organiser of Joy In the Park Linda Plover was delighted with the event.

“It was a lovely day in Fitzgerald's Park at the weekend. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, who was able to make it along, all the community groups, organisations, volunteers and team for all their time and dedication and of course all the amazing artists for bringing so much Joy to the park,” she said.

Joy In The Park is a celebration of life, whilst supporting mental health & well-being, in partnership with Cork Mental Health Foundation.

There was loads of family fun at the Circus Ring which featured Kinderama, Those Two Idiots and Circus Factory Disco to get the kids enjoying themselves. There was also storytelling at the Glade.

There were a number of music stages with Aslan headlining the John McCarthy stage along with Paddy and Saoirse Casey.

The Joy Sylvie Stage featured a mix of musical treats including the Cork Headway Choir, Ronan’s Ringo Music Bingo, Big Up the Beours and a DJ set by Morty from Sultans of Ping.

The Couch Sessions stage hosted trad music as well as a talk for creatives from Minding Creative Minds while the Mad Hatters Stage featured the likes of Myles Gaffney, Fiona Kennedy and Ger Wolfe.

There was also a Wellness Haven and a Mental Health Activity and Wellness Hub, much needed after the nail-biting loss to Clare!

The Cork Independent is proud to be print partner for the fantastic Joy In the Park.
