June award for Daniel O’Mahoney
The Cork footballers’ championship may have ended sooner than they would have wished for but it did produce a couple of exciting afternoons and a level of consistency and quality from one player in particular.
Knocknagree’s Daniel O’Mahoney performed his defensive duties to the highest standards but also managed to clip in some vital scores.
In recognition of his excellent campaign, Daniel was presented with the 96FM/C103 GAA Sports Star of the Month Award for June in association with the Rochestown Park Hotel.
Daniel was delighted with the award.
“It’s always nice to get recognised and my thanks to the sponsors for their promotion of these prestigious awards, obviously as a team we would have liked to go further, but hopefully we are going in the right direction.”
Daniel was also pleased that John Cleary, who was in attendance, is saying on as manager.
“Thrilled really, John has done so much work with this group over the last number of years and we are looking forward to building on that great work.”
Noel O’Callaghan Vice-Chairman of the Cork County Board also congratulated Daniel on the award and his excellence all year with Cork and wished him well in the county championship, while also acknowledging the support of 96FM/C103 and the Rochestown Park Hotel.
Tom Tobin of Rochestown Park Hotel also congratulated Daniel, while Knocknagree manager John Fintan Daly and several team mates and the County PRO were also in attendance along with friends and family.
This is the 21st year of the awards and the overall winner will be announced at the gala banquet on 31 January 2025.
