Circus fest announces dazzling lineup

A spectacular lineup of thrilling performances and dazzling circus acts has been unveiled for this year’s Pitch’d Circus and Street Arts Festival.

Back for its seventh outing, the hugely popular festival runs from 23 August to 1 September at venues across the city.

Themed ‘Future-Proof’ and with a commitment to inclusivity and community engagement, this year’s festival is all about looking forward, embracing innovation, and celebrating the vibrant world of contemporary circus arts.

The festival will include circus shows, street performances, and engaging industry workshops.

A festival highlight, the Pitch’d Festival Gala at The Everyman on 24 August, offers a variety of breath-taking performances by talented circus artists showcasing their incredible skills and creativity. To book, visit everymancork.ticketsolve.com.

On 27 August, a circus-inspired film night will be hosted at The Pav. Created in collaboration with Ken Fanning of AkenEvilThing, Film Night at The Pav invites guests to “dive, vault, and splat” into the emerging and exciting world of circus on screen. To book, visit eventbrite.ie.

The following Saturday 31 August, Wes Peden’s ‘Rollercoaster’ is sure to wow audience members with dazzling feats of juggling. ‘Rollercoaster’ is a one-hour solo show by the man some call “the best juggler in the world”, Wes Peden, who uses ultra-modern, pop-punk juggling to talk about finding the balance between freedom and security. Closing off the festival on 1 September will be a series of free and family-friendly street circus shows taking place as part of AutumnFest on Douglas Street from 12-5pm. Visitors can try out juggling and other circus props with Juggler Brendan, or be mesmerized by ‘What's Watt’, a show for all ages featuring acrobatics, hula hooping, escapology, and plenty of comedy.

Pitch’d Circus and Street Arts Festival goers are also reminded not to miss the aerial duet by Daniel Seabra and Mafalda Gonçalves all the way from Portugal. There will also be a series of industry events for producers hosted by Promenade, as well as the chance to explore professional development opportunities with both national and international artists.

This year, Pitch’d Circus & Street Arts Festival is committed to ensuring the Festival is accessible and inclusive for all by providing detailed access information for our Festival goers.

Pitch’d Circus & Street Arts Festival is funded by The Arts Council of Ireland, Cork City Council, Tomar Trust, and the Portugal Embassy.
