DJs come together to help Palestine

“We want to bring the people of Cork together on one night to raise awareness of the situation in Gaza.”

These were the words of Ian Morrissey ahead of an event he is organising which is set to take place on Leeside to show solidarity with the people of Palestine.

People are invited to come to Crawford & Co. & Aye on Anglesea St on Saturday 24 August for People's Republic For Palestine.

The event is being organised by Departures in an effort to raise Funds For UNICEF's Emergency Gaza Appeal. A number of DJs are generously giving their time free of charge to play a set with all proceeds from the night going to UNICEF'S Gaza Emergency Appeal.

The music line-up includes Stevie G, Colm Motherway, Jim Comet, Keith Synnott, Gossy, Colm K, Ed Callanan, Brian Mills and Paul Kav with special guests featuring on the night.

A barbecue will also be held on the night at the front of the venue. The evening will get underway from 4pm onwards.

Event organiser Ian Morrissey added: “We want to bring the people of Cork together on one night to raise awareness of the situation in Gaza and show our support for the Palestinian people. By fundraising on the night, we will help bring much needed funds to UNICEF who are working tirelessly in the area.

“We want to maximise the fundraising effort beyond ticket sales for the night. We are encouraging people to donate directly to UNICEF’s Gaza Emergency Appeal unicef.ie/support-us/fundraise.”

Tickets for the event cost €20 and are available on Eventbrite.

“It’s set to be a great night. I’m very thankful to the DJs who so very kindly offered to give up their free time and lend support to the event. Also, to Michael Droney of Crawford & Co for hosting the event.

“We look forward to raising as much as we can and no doubt the DJs will keep the crowd entertained into the early hours,” Ian added.
