13 affordable homes in Midleton

Applications will open next week for a new housing project in Midleton.

Cork County Council is inviting prospective homeowners to apply for the new two and three bed houses at Tir Cluain, which are being offered at a discounted rate, from 12 noon on Monday.

The affordable housing development of 13 A-rated, family homes is within walking distance of Midleton Train Station and the town’s Main Street. Constructed by O’Mahony Developments, the houses will generally be available for first-time buyers who do not own a home and Fresh Start Applicants, but small number of exceptions apply.

Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr Joe Carroll said: “The development at Tir Cluain is superbly situated in this popular residential area just a short walk from Midleton’s town centre and all its amenities.”

Through the scheme, purchasers will enter an affordable dwelling purchase arrangement with Cork County Council where the council will retain a percentage equity share in the dwelling.

Chief Executive of Cork County Council, Moira Murrell said: “The launch of these 13 houses, provided by the council under the Affordable Scheme will provide a further supply of high-quality homes for eligible applicants.”

Applications for the scheme will be accepted from 12 noon on 2 September to 12 noon on 23 September on corkcoco.ie.
