Assault in Cobh

Investigations were continuing yesterday in Cobh following an assault on Tuesday evening.

Shortly after 6pm, on Tuesday 27 August, gardaí said they were alerted to an incident in which a man was assaulted outside a premises in Carrignafoy, Cobh.

The injured man, a male in his 30s, was transported to Cork University Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

A man in his 50s was subsequently arrested and was still being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a garda station in Cork as of going to print on Wednesday.

Gardaí also said that investigations are ongoing.
