It’s fore a holiday!

Cork GAA swapped their hurleys for golf clubs recently as they launched a golf classic in aid of the senior hurlers’ holiday tour fund.

All funds raised will supplement the Cork County Board and central funding of the Cork senior hurlers’ player tour. Cork GAA said the day promises to be fun and competitive, all in the spirit of giving back to the team that represented Cork with such pride throughout last season.

The classic will take place on Friday 4 October at Cork Golf Club.

Speaking at the launch Pat Ryan, Cork Senior Hurling Manager, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cork Golf Club and all of our sponsors for their support, we look forward to a great day, in support of our team holiday fund. We had an incredible year and look forward to the 2025 season.”

Registration is open for teams of four and tee times are limited. The entry fee for a team of four is €1,250 or €1,500 for a team and a tee box. Prizes will be awarded for top-performing teams as well as the longest drive and nearest the pin winners.

Pat Horgan, Chairperson of Cork GAA, said: “The golf classic at Cork Golf Club affords us the opportunity to come together and thank the Cork hurlers for the incredible days we had this summer and we look forward to going one step further in the future.

“There are lots of ways for companies to get involved from sponsorship, to taking a team, to sponsoring a tee box at the event for €350. This sponsorship allows companies to promote their brand to participants and spectators while supporting Cork GAA and its senior hurling team.”

This event is sponsored by O'Connell Group and MC2 Accountants.
