Cork restaurants among the best
A Cork city restaurant has been listed among the top 10% of restaurants worldwide by a globally recognised travel website.
The Met Bar and Restaurant at the Metropole Hotel on MacCurtain Street was selected for this year’s Travellers’ Choice Awards by TripAdvisor.
The awards, which started in 2002 and showcase the best restaurants in multiple categories, are based on real-life diners’ reviews and ratings collected over a 12 month period.
Businesses with consistently strong reviews earn the Travellers’ Choice distinction.
One reviewer wrote on TripAdvisor: “Dinner at The Met was delightful. The menu presented a wide range of choices and the wine list was superb. Fantastic experience! Our server, Taylor, was exceptional. She was most attentive to us and very responsive to our requests.”
Another wrote: “Can’t recommend the place enough, staff were all extremely friendly and food was absolutely delicious. I can’t recommend the steak enough.”
According to TripAdvisor, winning a Travellers’ Choice Award is not easy and speaks to the exceptional hospitality provided to every guest.
The Metropole Hotel is a part of Trigon Hotels who operate three 4-star hotels in Cork.
Pierce Lowney, Director of Food and Beverage at Trigon Hotels, said: “Winning an award is always a lovely recognition of the hard work and dedication of our team but the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award is extra special as it’s based on our customer reviews. This shows that we are consistently serving high quality food by a very attentive team. I would like to thank TripAdvisor for this accolade and thank all our customers who left positive feedback on the website.”
Another Leeside restaurant to feature in the Travellers’ Choice Awards was da Mirco osteria on Bridge Street in Cork city which made it into the top ten Hidden Gems category for Ireland.
Describing the traditional Italian restaurant’s menu, the Michelin Guide said: “Both Irish and imported ingredients feature in the rustic, no-frills dishes, with homemade pastas like spinach and ricotta cannelloni a particular highlight. The service is led by eponymous owner Mirco, who brings a chatty approach to this lively little spot.”
Mirch Masala Indian Restaurant in Clonakilty also featured in the awards, coming in at number seven in the Irish Casual Dining category.
A reviewer wrote: “Mirch Masala Indian Restaurant stands out with its vibrant flavours and warm atmosphere. The extensive menu features well-presented dishes like the flavourful butter chicken and aromatic biryani. Portions are generous, and the food quality is consistently high. The friendly, professional staff ensures attentive service, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience.
