A beautiful symbol of hope

By Finnian Cox

“Pieta House was there for me when I needed them the most.”

Those were the words of Little Light’s founder Céilí Flood as the Glimmer necklace was launched.

It’s a collaborative piece she made alongside the charity and features a lighthouse charm, a symbol of the guidance offered by Pieta, with all profits from the piece going towards the charity.

Little Light jewellery said the necklace’s aim is to raise awareness around mental health, suicide prevention, and the services provided by the charity.

She was inspired to create the necklace following her personal struggles with mental health challenges, which came after she lost her brother-in-law Keith to suicide.

She described Keith as an unforgettable presence, and source of support for her, and so his loss inspired her to try and support others on their mental health journeys. She also described the help she received from Pieta House, saying they were there to help in her time of need.

As a result, she now says her mental health is at an all-time high.

“I truly believe that the 12 week therapy course they offered saved my life. It’s why I chose to partner with them—to help others access the same life-saving care,” she said.

Little Light includes a poem written by Céilí and her sister Fiona with each piece of jewellery, each written to reflect the themes of the items - joy, comfort, hope and a celebration of love and friendship.

Pieta House run a reach-out program for anyone struggling with mental health issues. They can be contacted at pieta.ie, or at 1800-247247.

Glimmer’s Accompanying Poem:

“In shadows deep, where whispers cry,

A beacon calls, a soft reply.

Through nights so dark, it lights your way,

A flicker of hope at break of day.

When waves of doubt and sorrow rise,

Look to the glow that never dies.

A glimmer bright, a guide so true,

A lifeline through the storm for you.

Wear this charm, hold it near,

A symbol of light, a shield from fear.

From darkness into light we stride,

With courage, love, and hope inside.”
