Myo my, what a wonderful day

A beloved community hub in the heart of Cork city is celebrating its 10th birthday in a very meaningful way today.

Myo Café on Pope's Quay will host A Very, Very Irish Tea Party from 1-5pm this afternoon, blending its anniversary celebrations with a fundraiser in solidarity with Gaza.

This special event looks to bring together Cork’s local community to mark Samhain in true Irish fashion while raising vital funds for the people of Palestine.

There will be plenty of free Barry’s Tea on offer to be enjoyed to the tune of an all-day traditional Irish music session which will lead right up to the famous Dragon of Shandon parade at 6pm.

In addition to the music and tea, Myo will be holding a raffle with spot prizes donated by local Cork businesses such as Quay Co-op, Key fast, Sinead's Care Packages, Top Shelf Boutique, Sebastian Thommen, and more. There is also a set of golf clubs, a round of golf, and a bottle of Midleton Very Rare up for grabs. Guests will also be able to purchase items from the Cork Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

The story of Myo Café is one of deep personal roots in the Cork community. Founded by Liam in the aftermath of the tragic loss of his mother, Teresa, over a decade ago, Myo was borne out of grief but has blossomed into a space of warmth, togetherness, and resilience. Myo has become a haven for locals, a place for friends to gather, share stories, and build community along the banks of the River Lee.
