Get down on one Blar-knee this Christmas
Planning a festive proposal this Christmas? An iconic Cork city location has been listed amongst the most popular engagement destinations in the country.
Blarney Castle, home to the Blarney Stone, is easily one of the most, if not the most, famous historical sites in Cork, and now, according to new figures compiled by Diamonds Factory Ireland, it is the fourth most popular proposal spot in the land.
The figures, which were collected by analysing data from TikTok, show that Blarney Castle has received 2,495 TikTok proposal-related hashtags in the past year.
Top of the list were, understandably, the majestic Cliffs of Moher in county Clare with 21,400 hashtags, followed by the Giant’s Causeway in county Antrim with 7,830, and Trinity College Library in Dublin with 6,236.
Diamondsfactory.ie said other popular destinations to make the top 10 were Killarney National Park in Kerry, Kylemore Abbey in Connemara, Glendalough in Wicklow, and St Stephen’s Green in Dublin.
The 15th century Blarney Castle and gardens are known worldwide for their beauty and rich history, making it a perfect location to pop the question. Maybe it would be best to wait until after you’ve both kissed the Blarney Stone though; that way you’re sure to get an answer one way or another thanks to the gift of the gab!
Blarney, now officially a part of Cork city since 2019’s boundary extension, is located roughly 8km from the city centre and is serviced regularly by the number 215 bus. The picturesque town has a great festive atmosphere this time of year and if you time your visit just right, you can enjoy the famed Blarney Christmas Fair on 24 November.
