A capella stars to play city pub
Festival favourites and viral sensations the Ramparts are to play a series of gigs at a city centre pub this weekend.
The all-male Dublin-based a cappella group features over 30 members and their gigs feature a wide range of traditional Irish folk songs, classic hits, old school barbershop ballads, contemporary classical and sacred music
Set up in February 2016, the Ramparts are perhaps best recognised from their viral successes; their performances of 'The Rocky Road to Dublin' and 'Fairytale of New York' in the Stag's Head pub have received over 7 million views on YouTube. Over the years, they have also become known as those lads who sang ‘Raglan Road’ onboard the Dart, ‘My Lovely Horse’ on Grafton St, or ‘Baby On Board’on a Camden Street rooftop!
The Ramparts have a number of TV appearances including BBC's 'Pitch Battle', RTÉ 1's ‘Christmas at Kilkenny Castle’, and Virgin Media's ‘Ireland AM’ and ‘Ireland's Got Talent’, as well as numerous performances on the airwaves.
In March 2024, The Ramparts took part in a brand new Korean reality TV show ‘My Name Is Gabriel’ on Disney+ featuring alongside renowned South Korean actor, Park Bo-gum.
In October 2024, The Ramparts competed for the first time ever in the Derry International Choral Festival, and were awarded best overall choir in the National competition.
The Ramparts perform annually at the Electric Picnic and Kaleidoscope festivals, and make regular appearances at other music and arts festivals.
The Ramparts are performing at the Thomond Pub in Cork city this weekend from 22 to 24 November.
