Senior leaders appointed to MTU Executive

MTU announced the appointments on Monday which it said reinforces MTU’s mission to be a centre of excellence in education and research and enhance the university’s regional impact.

The university said it’s a “pivotal step in MTU’s ongoing transformation and commitment to creating a globally competitive university that empowers people for a successful future”.

MTU President Maggie Cusack said: “We are pleased to welcome this remarkable cohort of leaders to MTU. These appointments reflect the calibre of talent that MTU attracts as we work toward becoming a truly great, globally competitive university. Together, this team will drive our commitment to sustainability, equity, and the region we serve. These new appointments are part of MTU’s ambitious transformation agenda, aimed at creating a dynamic learning environment that benefits the south-west region and also positions MTU as a globally competitive university. MTU is currently awaiting government approval to complete the University Executive, which will enable further developments to support MTU’s strategic goals.

The new leaders are:

· Prof. Christine Cross – Vice President Academic Affairs & Registrar

· Paul Gallagher – Vice President Finance & Operations

· Prof. Hugh McGlynn – Vice President Research & Innovation

· Simon Jennings – Chief Corporate Officer

· Prof. Alistair Payne – Dean of Faculty of Creative and Performing Arts and Media

· Dr Seán McSweeney – Dean of Faculty of Engineering
