Nobody wants to walk through town at midday looking like Liberace
Party season is in full swing, and I’ve already spent the past two weekends at bottomless brunch Christmas parties and we’ve only just hit December.
Needless to say, in my old age party fatigue has hit and as I enter my third weekend of festivities, I am left wondering what to wear. I’m struggling in the cold weather to fake tan and expose any skin, so I want outfits that are comfortable and easy to wear but also give a glam party feel.
There are two items that always are my go-tos when I’m not sure what to wear and that’s a co-ord set and a gorgeous jacket. If you have a great jacket you can keep the rest of your outfit super simple and just pop the jacket over your basics.
Last weekend I wore black trousers and a black body suit, simple everyday basics to have in your wardrobe but I then put a vintage sequin and beaded jacket over the top and finished the look off with some colourful earrings.
As it was a daytime party, I even ditched the heels and popped on my silver trainers and it still looked party glam but was such a comfy outfit to wear. I advise to get investing in some metallic trainers as a great alternative option to a heel.
Sometimes you will want to go full on glam but a lot of the time we need more laid back party options. Nobody wants to walk through town at midday looking like Liberace and that’s where a more casual look is ideal.
Vintage is a great option when it comes to finding beautiful jackets, but I’ve also recently found Irish brand Sketch The Label, a capsule collection from the lifestyle store Sketch. The Lyla sequin bomber is an absolute no brainer for party dressing. I love the combination of a more relaxed silhouette like the bomber combined with sequins and the black ensures it’s a timeless piece that you’ll wear time and time again.
The black petal jacket is perfect if you prefer something a little more low key and it adds a touch of elegance to your look. This is a real hero piece that can be styled over dresses or worn with trousers or to dress up some jeans.
Another fantastic, easy to style option is a co-ord and there are so many wonderful options out there that there’s a matching set to suit everyone. I love some suiting but really my absolute favourite two piece has to be a more relaxed pyjama style. The Bailey set from Sketch The Label has an inhouse designed Lily of the Valley print that gives a luxe feel and this is the sort of set that you could wear with flats and a blazer for travel or a cosy brunch date but then change up the accessories and give it a more night time feel. A leather jacket and black heels would compliment the look perfectly.
Of course, the beauty of a co-ord is you also get lots of mix and match combinations wearing the top with jeans and styling the trousers with an oversized knit and trainers.
With a few of these option in the wardrobe you’ll always be ready for those impromptu bottomless brunch invites.
