Champ Crowley’s right on cue!

An 18 year old Cork snooker sensation could be on a path to international stardom after winning the World Snooker Federation (WSF) Junior Championship.

Snooker prodigy Leon Crowley’s glorious win can’t be chalked up to luck after he smashed his opponent 5-0 in Thursday’s final in Morocco.

In doing so, he became the first ever Irish player to pocket the prestigious prize.

Leone has already cemented his place as one of Ireland’s most promising young athletes, boasting an extraordinary record of championship victories.

He has claimed titles in the Irish U12, U14, U16, U18, and U21 National Championships and won the U21 UK Open Championship in 2024.

Thursday’s win has secured Leone a coveted two year World Snooker Tour (WST) tour card, providing entry into the sport’s most elite professional tournaments.

Even before winning the final, Leone’s exceptional performance in the championship had already secured his place in the 2025 World Snooker Tour Championship qualifying rounds, which are set to take place in April.

Leone’s journey to the finals has captured the imagination of snooker fans across Ireland.

“His focus, determination, and skill on the table have established him as a beacon of hope for the future of the sport in Ireland,” said JP Crowley, Leone’s dad.
