Hannahbella drops 'dainty' new track

Cork-based experimental electronic-pop sensation Hannahbella has shared the first single from her highly anticipated new EP, ‘Parasite’.

Her new track, ‘Dainty Fae’, is a vibrant and multifaceted first taste of what’s to come when the full EP drops later this year.

The song showcases the Leeside solo artist’s genre-bending originality that fans have come to expect, complete with her unique and striking blend of glitchy hyper-pop, techno elements, and alt-rock.

“Dainty Fae tells the story of a Fae who, abandoned and consumed by loneliness, finds herself seething in self-pity,” explained Hannahbella. “It’s a haunting exploration of isolation, yet wrapped in an unexpected, playful sonic package.”

Recorded and mixed alongside acclaimed producer Jessica Richardson (WhenTheBeatIsBad), ‘Dainty Fae’ embraces a brighter, more commercial aspect of Hannahbella’s sound, while still allowing subtle flecks of the experimental electronics found in previous releases. Bringing infectious melodies and theatrical performance, the blend of live guitars and drums with swelling, twinkling synths creates a track which is as catchy as it is playful.

“The song began with a beat by Joe Keniry, which I then built upon before bringing it to my band,” recalled the Cork artist.

“It quickly became a crowd favourite during live shows, evolving into something far more expansive as we added layers and depth with the talents of the musicians around me.

“Sonically, I wanted to create a sharp contrast between the raw emotion of the lyrics and the upbeat, funky pop elements of the track. Honestly, I was initially intimidated by the fun and light hearted vibe, but I fully leaned into it, and the recording process ended up being such a joy!”

The track was “brought to life” at Wavefield Recordings in West Cork with producer Brian Casey, who Hannahbella said “truly understood the essence of the record”.

“The result is a song that balances whimsy and darkness, capturing the emotional complexity of feeling abandoned in a playful yet poignant way,” she said.

Since starting to release music back in 2021, Hannahbella has made significant strides with tracks featured across prestigious Spotify editorial playlists such as New Music Friday, Misfits 2.0, Breathe of Fresh Éire, and Fresh Finds UK & IE, amplifying her reach to a global audience.

She has also enjoyed support from prominent radio stations including Radio X, RTE 2fm, and Cork's Red FM.

Hannahbella's live performances have further solidified her reputation, as she has had the opportunity to open for renowned acts such as Baby Queen, Essiray, and The Cliffords, showcasing her dynamic stage presence and ability to represent her experimental edge on a live stage.
