How charming

While I’ve been doing my bit to lessen my clothing consumption and wear more of what I have in my wardrobe, one thing I really find hard to resist is a new jewellery purchase.

It is my absolute weakness and in my opinion, jewellery absolutely makes or breaks an outfit.

I will never be one of those people who doesn’t wear jewellery and if for some reason I leave the house and forget to put on my baubles then I feel wrong for the day. Jewellery to me is a great way to mark an occasion or to treat yourself to something special and most pieces when chosen correctly will stay with you forever.

It’s always been something I’ve loved even as a child and I remember my aunt had a silver charm bracelet which I absolutely adored and coveted.

Now you can imagine how excited I was when I saw that charms were making a comeback (were they ever really gone?!) on the jewellery scene.

In a world where so many things look the same people love to show individuality with personalisation and so jewellery charms make perfect sense. Irish jewellers Betty & Biddy are always leading the way when it comes to elevated everyday pieces and their new Charm Bar is the perfect way to tell your own story, hopes and dreams.

The charms are designed to hook on to any of the Betty & Biddy necklaces and bracelets and the charms are a great way to celebrate cherished memories, show your personality or just let your creative juices flow and create some gorgeous jewellery for so you have endless ways of changing up the look of your pieces.

They also make a lovely gift for someone and would be the perfect gift for someone who loves to have fun with their jewellery.

Plus, I would love to see what charms someone picked for me, I’m sure a cocktail would feature somewhere! I have been wearing my charms on repeat and they have definitely made their way into my everyday jewellery pieces.

Speaking of accessories, I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of sunglasses, god knows why because I feel like I haven’t seen sun in so long but I feel like now is the time to start looking. I spotted the most gorgeous pair in H&M the other day, burgundy with a light yellow lens, very 1970s vibe and for some reason I did not pick them up.

Of course I am now kicking myself because they have sold out and I can’t stop thinking about them. I have been stalking the H&M website so fingers crossed they come back in stock. I’m not one for spending a lot on sunglasses even though I have seen numerous pairs from Gucci and Miu Miu over the years which I would have loved to own but I just know if I made the investment I would probably lose or break them. That said I did get a prescription pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses in Specsavers a few years ago and I’ve managed to keep those safe. If you do wear glasses, prescription sunnies are a game changer.

I’m particularly taken with all the retro aviator styles out there at the moment and I think they really add to a look. Take for example one of my favourite outfits of late which is a jumpsuit, neckerchief, fur coat and if the sun is even slightly making an appearance, I’m popping those sunnies on. It’s super glam with minimal effort which is the pinnacle of fashion in my opinion.
