Pjs from Victoria’s Secret.

Love is in the air

Happy Galentine’s/Valentine’s Day! Whether you celebrate none, one or all, I always like to use the opportunity of cupid’s day to indulge one of my favourite colour combinations of red and pink.

Everywhere you look during the month of February, there’s plenty of items in these shades and it’s the perfect chance to add a bit of colour to your wardrobe as we emerge from the winter months.

Any outfit can benefit from a pop of red or pink and one of my outfit repeaters at the moment is a black polka dot roll neck worn with black trousers and I’ve been either wearing a red beret or if it’s dry, I’ll wear my red Mary Janes with black glitter socks.

I also have been wearing my pink H&M wool beanie to death, it’s been keeping me warm and adding a much-needed colour boost to my black winter coat.

These two colours are also perfect for easy colour clashing and I’ve seen a beautiful pink and red printed dress in the Itso Me Boutique which already has already done the hard work for you, just add a heel and oversized blazer or red cropped jacket and you’re ready for a night on the town. A little red neckerchief is also the cherry on top when worn with a white T-shirt, jeans and a jacket. A sartorial chefs kiss if you will.

If you like to generally keep your clothing to a simple, neutral colour palette then fear not, because this lends itself to being the perfect base for a red lip. If I’m going to an event or on a night out, I feel instantly more dressed up if I don a red lipstick.

A red nail is also another good option and I know so many people who never stray from pillar box red when they get their shellac done. It easily makes your outfit feel super polished.

If you’re feeling a bit meh about Valentines, then use it as an excuse to treat yourself. If I want a little pick me up, I just love to treat myself to a pair of pyjamas. You cannot beat the feeling of fresh sheets and lovely pyjamas to aid a good night’s sleep and give you the feel-good factor.

Victorias Secret on Opera Lane have such a great selection, but I have been eyeing up the most gorgeous pink silky pjs set with red heart print, it’s so striking and dare I say I would be tempted to add a pair of barely there heels and a blazer and wear it out to dinner.

Pjs these good need to be seen. If you prefer shorts, they also have a lovely pink set that could be won well into the summer and are light enough to pack in the case for summer hols! While we’re on the subject of self-gifting another one of my favourite things to treat myself to is a candle. Who doesn’t love getting the pjs on of an evening, reading your kindle and lighting a gorgeous candle.

We are so spoilt to have so many lovely candle brands in Ireland and I love the Velvet Peony and Oud from Somas as well as the hand poured White Jasmine from The Flourish Emporium. Just sit back, relax and pour yourself (in keeping with the red theme) a glass of red wine.
