Man arrested in Carrigaline is due to appear in court

The man arrested in relation to the death of a woman in her 80s following an incident at a residential property in Carrigaline has been charged.
He is due to appear before Cork District Court this morning, 27 February.

A man has been arrested following the death of an elderly woman two days after an incident at her home in Carrigaline.
The woman, who was in her 80s, died on Tuesday following an incident at her home on Sunday.Gardaí are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of the woman. While the woman did not initially require medical assistance, gardaí said she later became unwell and was transported to CUH where she was later pronounced dead.
A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the investigation and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. The scene has been preserved for technical and forensic examination by the local scenes of crime officers.
The office of the state pathologist and local coroner were notified. A post-mortem examination took place yesterday, Wednesday. A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and a family liaison officer has been assigned to provide support and information to the family. Gardaí confirmed investigations are ongoing.
