Nail your spring style!

It’s that time of year when we tentatively shed the winter woollens and start thinking about the lighter layers and how we can navigate this in between season while still looking stylish.

You don’t want to start buying lots of new pieces at this time of year rather have a deep dive into your wardrobe to see what pieces can help you transition into high spring and early summer. Luckily for us there are a wealth of items that will work for the new season with just a few little updates. Here’s what I’ll be bringing into Spring ‘25 with me.

First up is my favourite, leopard print which thankfully is still going strong and shows no sign of falling out of fashion favour. I have spotted the most amazing leopard print trench coat in Next that has a really nice shape to it and is perfect for now but also can be worn pretty much all year round.

I’ve styled it for now with a light knit, a slip skirt and ankle boots but come the summer you could swap the knit for a tee and put some trainers with the look. It would also look great worn as an added layer over bright, block coloured dresses.

This leads me onto another item that will elevate your spring styling and that is the trusty belt. Often forgotten, this accessory will really complete your look and give it a polished vibe. A thicker black belt with mock tortoise shell buckle work perfectly with slip skirts while a gold chain belt gives a glam ‘70s vibe to your denim.

It’s definitely something I’m going to be focusing more of in my own wardrobe as I have a few really nice belts that I had forgotten about. H&M are currently doing a great circular gold option at the moment but you’ll also find fabulous vintage options around the place.

Silk skirts and trousers are another item I’ll be wearing lots this spring and I’m sure by now most people have at least one of these in their wardrobe. I bought a pair of burgundy silky trousers last year and have worn them with knits and trainers but for spring I’ll be updating with blue and white striped shirts, t-shirts and blazers and then adding some flat pumps or a small block heel to dress it up a bit for my workwear wardrobe.

Cardigans which are an essential at this time of year and also work really well with the silky trouser or skirt and there are so many gorgeous cardigan options out there if you don’t already have one. Style a light crew neck one with trousers for a cosy workwear appropriate look or wear go for a thicker more structured style to pair with barrel leg jeans and pumps. Also keep an eye out for interesting button details that will elevate the simple cardigan and make it look more expensive than it is.

The barrel leg jean really comes into its own this season, I’ve been wearing them with boots up until now but they really work so well with a round toe Mary Jane pump or with a sandal (not quite sandal season yet).

Update your jeans for now in a butter yellow colour that you’ll wear into the summer and style with a dark chocolate brown cardigan for a stylish look that begs to be paired with a leopard print tote and you’ve got your spring style nailed!
