That’s a ‘Wicked’ idea

The Arc Cinema in Cork will celebrate International Women’s Day this Saturday with a special screenings at two Cork cinemas in support of women’s charities.

The Gate Cinemas in Midleton and Mallow will screen ‘Wicked’, a film that champions female empowerment and the power of friendship.

All proceeds from the special screenings will be donated to the incredible organisation Good Shepherd Cork, which is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the quality of life for women and children by providing emergency accommodation.

The decision to screen ‘Wicked’ was inspired by its two strong female leads and its themes of resilience, friendship, and empowerment, values that align perfectly with the spirit of International Women’s Day.

The Arc Cinema Cork will also take the opportunity to celebrate the incredible women who work with the company, recognizing their dedication and contributions. Speaking about the event, Assistant Manager Aoibhin expressed her excitement.

She said: “I am so excited for our screening of ‘Wicked’. With its strong female cast and empowering storyline, it is a perfect choice for such an important occasion, and all for a great cause.”

Aoibhin went on to express her passion for leading The Arc Cinema in Cork and the fulfilment she finds in creating meaningful experiences for the local community.

Asked about advice for women aiming to step into leadership roles, Aoibhin emphasizes the power of confidence and connection.

“My advice to women pursuing similar paths is to take the time to understand your community,” she said.

“Tailor your efforts to what truly resonates with them. Always believe in yourself and your potential – don’t let self-doubt hold you back. Women have the strength to achieve anything they set their minds to,” she added.
