The 80-strong White Horse Gospel Choir will perform a special fundraiser concert next month.

Gospel choir to bring some balance

An evening of heart-warming, soul-stirring gospel singing supporting children and young adults with special needs will take place in Cork next month.

On 4 April, the White Horse Gospel Choir, a dynamic group of 80 plus choristers based in Cork, will perform a special fundraising concert at the Church of Christ Our Light in Ballincollig.

Not ones to shy away from an opportunity to give back to their community, all proceeds from the concert will go directly to Balance Summer Camp which provides essential summer camp activities for children and young adults with special needs over four weeks during the summer months.

For this special fundraiser, the White Horse Gospel Choir will be performing a magical set including many gospel classics. The choir will be joined special guests Martin Leahy on drums and Niall McGuinness on bass guitar, along with choir staple – the fabulous Carlene Lyndsey on keys.

Since forming in 2019, the White Horse Gospel Choir has been entertaining crowds far and wide with their unique brand of gospel singing.

Founded by choral director Aoibheann Carey-Philpott, the choir has raised thousands of euros for charities both locally and nationally, and has graced some of the grandest stages, including Cork Opera House, the Everyman Theatre, and Cork City Hall, among others.

The choir has also had the pleasure of accompanying some of the finest acts to emerge from Cork city, including popular folk troubadours and stablemates, The White Horse Guitar Club; billboard chart-toppers and local legends Rubyhorse for their Live at St Luke’s concerts; Leeside doyenne, Áine Whelan for her very special rendition of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ in aid of Pieta; and in recent times, recording artists U.M.A.N and Brian Oglanby.

The White Horse Gospel Choir will perform their special fundraising concert on 4 April at Church of Christ Our Light, Inishmore, Ballincollig. The show begins at 7pm. Tickets are on sale directly from the choir and can be booked by emailing whgchoir@gmail.com. Tickets are also available for purchase from the Balance Charity Shop in Ballincollig.

All proceeds from the concert will go directly to Balance Summer Camp, a registered, local charity.
