City company hoping to win national award
A city technology company boasting a host of global multinationals and the European Council as customers, will represent Local Enterprise Office, Cork City at the National Enterprise Awards 2025.
rConfig is used by IT organisations all over the world to back up and support their networks. It was set up by Stephen Stack, who says it is like having a safety net for the networks that keep businesses running. Stephen is Founder and Chief Technology Officer at rConfig and has been developing the product for 15 years but turned it into a business two years ago and has seen 100% growth year-on-year since.
“rConfig helps companies keep track of all their network devices, making sure everything is backed up, secure, and running smoothly. It’s a way to prevent IT headaches - catching problems before they cause real issues, saving time, and keeping businesses online without the stress.”
Stephen was leading the global network team for a large organisation when he identified a need to improve the experience of this type of solution. He developed a product which now has top-class usability, security and scalability and is working with IT and security teams across industries in finance, healthcare, government, retail, and telecom.
Some of their customers include Jysk, Caesars Palace, P&G, Royal London, Motorola Solutions, and the European Council.
Local enterprise offices from all over the country select a representative for the National Enterprise Awards which are held in the Mansion House in Dublin every year.
Stephen Stack said: “I’m very grateful to be nominated for the award. I’m a bit surprised. I think after spending this much time developing the product and spending time with customers, I take its capabilities and features for granted. So when the LEO Cork City told me I had been nominated, I was both shocked and surprised but full of gratitude.”
Stephen has a small team, including a customer success manager and one software developer and they use a lot of AI technology to help develop features which allows them to go to market much quicker.
Dr Niall O’Keeffe, Head of Enterprise at the Local Enterprise Office, Cork City, said: “rConfig is a glowing example of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. Their international success is a testament to thinking differently and evaluating what else is possible. We are delighted to announce rConfig as this year’s LEO Cork City’s representative for the National Enterprise Awards and I would like to wish them the very best of luck.”
This is the 25th year of the awards which celebrate the best small businesses in Ireland.
