Cork's Jacqui Hurley joins Hope Foundation
The Hope Foundation has announced the appointment of Cork sports broadcaster Jacqui Hurley as its newest ambassador.
The Cork-based charity, dedicated to rescuing children from the streets and slums of Kolkata, India, said Ms Hurley brings a deep passion for social impact and a strong dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable children.
The charity added that Ms Hurley had embraced her new role as ambassador “with both enthusiasm and commitment”.
Commenting on her new role, Ms Hurley said: “Having been familiar with HOPE’s work for many years, I'm delighted to be a part of the organisation and look forward to supporting their efforts in improving the lives of street-connected and slum-dwelling communities in Kolkata, Inda.”
It is hoped that Ms Hurley’s involvement with the organisation will help raise awareness and support for its programmes, which provide vital services such as healthcare, education, and vocational training to vulnerable populations. HOPE runs 58 projects in Kolkata, including ten residential childcare centres, five creches, and a hospital.
“We are thrilled to have Jacqui join us as a new ambassador,” said Maureen Forrest, Founding President of The Hope Foundation.
“Jacqui and her family have been friends of HOPE for years and her passion and commitment will greatly support our mission and enhance our efforts in Kolkata,” added Ms Forrest.
Ms Hurley, who presents a number of programmes including ‘The Sunday Game’ highlights on RTÉ, is one of Ireland’s best known sports broadcasters. She is originally from Ballinhassig in county Cork.
