Gardaí in North Cork are appealing for witnesses to a fatal car accident.

Witness call for fatal Mallow accident

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road accident in Cork in which two women were killed and two children hospitalised.

The two vehicle collision happened yesterday afternoon at around 3.50pm on the N72, Navigation Road, Mallow.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision where drivers of each car, one woman in her 60s and one woman in her 40s, were pronounced dead.

The bodies of both of the women were removed to the mortuary at CUH where a post-mortem examination is set to take place.

The passengers of one of the cars, two children, a boy and a girl, were brought to CUH with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The road was closed for technical examination by garda forensic collision investigators until earlier this morning but it has now re-opened.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 3pm and 4pm are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
