Izz flys the flag for Palestinian food
One of Cork’s most exotic eateries has picked up another major award!
Independently owned Izz Cafe took home the top prize in the Just Eat Best Middle Eastern category, recognised by the public for its exceptional dishes that are rich, aromatic, and full of flavour.
Izz Cafe offers fantastic traditional Palestinian food and has become a huge favourite in Cork city, located on the banks of Lee on George’s Quay.
Just Eat is an on demand food delivery platform and this year’s Best of Ireland award has been won by Handsome Burger. Handsome Burger received the highest number of votes cast by the Irish public, both in its individual category (Best Burger & American), and overall.
Since opening its first restaurant in Galway in 2019, Handsome Burger’s award-winning menu of burgers, fries and sides has gained a legion of fans. Handsome Burger has been awarded a €50,000 media package, offering the team a fantastic opportunity to boost its brand nationwide and attract new customers.
The €50,000 media package is a brand new prize introduced by Just Eat this year, designed to support the restaurant partners who are at the heart of its business.
Thousands of the Irish public cast their votes for this year’s Just Eat Awards, which celebrate the dedication, passion and excellence that the platform’s partners put into every order delivered to the doors of communities.
Category winners were selected from a shortlist of over 80 nominees and were announced last week at a lunch event in Fallon & Byrne.
Boojum, which has a restaurant on Winthrop Street in the city centre won the Best Chain award.
Amanda Roche-Kelly, Managing Director of Just Eat Ireland said: “Foodies have never had as much choice for innovative, delicious and bold dishes. This year marks eleven years of the annual Just Eat Awards.
We wanted to do something particularly special for our partners this year and we’re delighted to award this year’s Best of Ireland winner, Handsome Burger, with a €50,000 media package. Rory and the Handsome Burger team have truly built up a phenomenal following since bursting onto the food delivery scene over six years ago, and with plans to ‘take over the world’ (in their words!) in sight, we look forward to supporting them in getting closer to that goal.
“Congratulations to all this year’s Cork winners, and to all our partners, for their ongoing dedication and innovation that you put into every dish, and to every meal delivered. Our partners are central to everything we do, and I would like to thank the public that voted and showed support to their favourite local restaurants in Cork too.”
