Wild Atlantic Glamping was set up by Caitríona Hanley in 2021 but its roots stretch back much further. Caitríona’s father is from Bere Island and her childhood holidays were spent there in the family home. Photo: Jed Niezgoda

You simply can’t Bere to miss out on this fantastic glamping experience!

Visiting West Cork is all about making memories, but why rough it when you can do it in comfort and style?

From exploring rock pools and jumping off the pier to toasting marshmallows over the campfire, discovering hidden coves on a kayak, and simply enjoying the freedom of being on an island, a stay at the fabulous Wild Atlantic Glamping on Bere Island is just the ticket.

Go to sleep listening to the sounds of the sea and in the morning, zip open your tent to watch the sunrise over Bantry Bay. Wild Atlantic Glamping is a place where you can disconnect from the stresses of everyday life and immerse yourself in nature.

There are ten luxury canvas bell tents, each named after a hidden gem on the island. Each tent has its own private terrace so that you can relax and enjoy the sea views. Electricity, cool box, fresh linen, and towels are provided to each tent, and the welcome pack includes artisan treats such as Bere Island Honey and Lorge Hot Chocolate.

The purpose-built complex has everything you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Every element is designed with campers’ comfort in mind (and, as this is Ireland, all weather conditions!), from the cosy beds in the tents to the generous communal areas with a well-equipped kitchen and dining room. The sea views are spectacular, with Hungry Hill, the peak of the Caha mountains, creating a dramatic backdrop. This east facing site also has direct access to the shore, perfect for a sunrise dip.

Bere Island is a short ferry trip from Castletownbere, just a two-hour drive from Cork city. The island is served by two car ferries, so you don’t even have to worry about packing light, you can just load up the car and enjoy a stress-free start to your holiday.

Wild Atlantic Glamping is ideal for couples, catching up with friends, an outdoor adventure with the kids, or you can even book the entire site exclusively for a retreat, family get-together, workshop, team building or a wedding. The busy event calendar for 2025 includes yoga retreats, a ukulele festival, and acclaimed singer-songwriter Mundy will be playing there on 16 August. There is still availability for this summer, so check wildatlanticglamping.ie and start planning your island experience.
