Elderly man killed by truck

An elderly man has died following an incident on Main Street, Charleville yesterday morning. It is understood that he was crossing the road when he was struck by a truck.

The man, aged in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the incident which took place around 11am on Wednesday morning.

Main Street was closed for some time with diversions in place as the scene was examined by forensic collision investigators. Traffic was severely affected in the area as a result.
